ABOUT THE HOST

Christy Ivie founded Christy’s Cause in 2015 and leads the organization, bringing over 12 years of experience in strategy development and operations management in both profit and nonprofit sectors. Her experience has given her expertise in strategic planning, project management, construction management, business coaching, business start up, and business turnaround.

“I’ve always known I would use my childhood story to reach out and help children who are at-risk of sexual exploitation,” Christy said. “I am excited to be a part of a unique and growing nonprofit organization that brings hope to an otherwise desperate and dark situation.”

Christy is passionate about life and exudes hope and positivity. Her life motto has become “freedom fighter,” which she lives out through the vision of Christy’s Cause. She resides in Estero, Florida with her best friend and husband.

Dr. Kanathy Haney is a health sciences professor and chair of the human trafficking coalition at Palm Beach State College and guest lecturer at the University of Florida. She received her doctorate in public health at the University of Florida in which she focused her dissertation on sex trafficking in the United States. Dr. Haney is working to spread awareness and prevention of human trafficking from a public health perspective. She believes that by better understanding the nature of trauma, she can create evidence-based community interventions. This would promote social justice and enhance public health goals to reduce harm. Dr. Haney advocates for a multi- disciplinary approach to reduce mental health and substance use issues among human trafficking victims and survivors by implementing an effective trauma-informed and survivor-centered continuum of care. She also places importance on the ability of professionals in the field to identify risk factors and intersections among those affected by human trafficking. Dr. Haney is a member of the Human Trafficking Coalition of the Palm Beaches and the Palm Beach County Human Trafficking Task Force. Her goal is to advocate the public health issue of human trafficking around the globe to reduce health disparities and enhance social justice.

FRANCINE DONNORUMMO

Francine Donnorummo obtained her Juris Doctor at the University of Pittsburgh School Of Law and worked as a staff attorney with Northern Pennsylvania Legal Services. She began working in Florida in 1997 with the Domestic Violence Unit within Court Administration and had the good fortune to begin working with the Office of the State Attorney (SAO), 20th Judicial Circuit in 1998. During her tenure at the SAO she has tried more than 100 jury trials including several domestic violence murders, sexual batteries, child abuse, and child homicides. She is the Chief of the Special Victims Unit for the 20th Judicial Circuit. This supervisory role keeps her involved in cases throughout the five counties as well as provides the opportunity for her to educate and continue involvement in the community of which she serves including participation on several task forces associated with the women’s shelter, child abduction, child death review, and human trafficking. Francine is co-chair of the Human Trafficking Task Force, a multi-disciplinary effort to best meet the needs of the victims and the public subject to human trafficking trauma. Her role as a prosecutor entails continued involvement from the beginning of an investigation up to conviction of these cases. She is authorized to work as part of the US Attorney’s Office for crimes involving the exploitation of children. She works with both federal and state law enforcement agencies and attempts to coordinate their efforts and proceed accordingly. “I look forward to working with Christy’s Cause and am grateful to have the opportunity,” said Donnorummo. “We all need to work together to minimize the daunting task of eradicating child exploitation.”

SERGEANT WADE WILLIAMS

Wade Williams is the Sergeant of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Bureau Exploitation Section. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Criminology from Florida State University. He began his Law Enforcement career in 2003 as a patrol Deputy and Detective. Wade has been with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office for over fifteen years and has extensive specialized training in the areas of leadership, community relations, and investigations. He is responsible for managing Collier County’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Federal Task Force, the Missing Persons Unit, the Internet Exploitation Unit, and the Human Trafficking Unit, is the Supervisor for sworn Detectives and Civilian Deputies, a Member of Child Abduction Response Team (CART), and the on the Human Trafficking Task Force for the Middle District of Florida. His dedication and hard work have resulted in the arrest and prosecution of numerous sex predators. Wade has received many awards for his work including the Phoenix Award in 2016 for saving a life, the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award from the Florida Attorney General’s Office in 2019, and a “Teamwork” award for successful supervision of a multi-jurisdictional Human Trafficking investigation and mass arrest operation stemming from this investigation that resulted in the apprehension of 15 suspects for human trafficking related crimes dubbed “Operation Human Freedom.” Wade is passionate about teaching other law enforcement officers and speaks regularly in the community where he and Christy met. They share a passion to eradicate child sex trafficking and exploitation and have enjoyed collaborating on training events such as the annual Human Trafficking Symposium. Wade said, “Working with our most vulnerable victims has given me the greatest sense of accomplishment than any other position in my career.”

JOANN MEDILLINA

Executive Director of Into the Jordan Ministries

In 2013 after hearing the testimony of a local survivor of human trafficking Joann felt called to action and joined Into the Jordan Ministries, a local non-profit supporting victims of sex trafficking. After serving as an Educational Tutor and Survivor Mentor faithfully for 3 years she was asked to join the Board of Directors. In 2018 after 18 years of teaching, Joann stepped out of the classroom and into the role of Executive Director of Into the Jordan Ministries. Today, Joann spends her days overseeing the various program operations ensuring excellence in the delivery of services to the survivors that she serves. She is passionate about giving hope to those who have found themselves caught in the bondages of sexual exploitation. Joann received her Master’s of Administration from Wilmington University after completing her B.S in Education from the University of Delaware. She understands the importance of education in furthering one's success in life and desires to see the women that she works with have every opportunity to create the healthy life that they deserve. Joann has been married for 26 years to the love of her life and has two children currently in college.

 

CORPORAL ALAN WILKETT

Corporal Wilkett has served 27 years in law enforcement with responsibilities including Major Crimes, Narcotics, Child Abuse and Human Trafficking. For 8 years, he oversaw the human trafficking task force for Pasco County Sherriff Office. He currently serves on Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Statewide HT Task Force and is Florida certified in crime prevention through environmental design. He has been awarded Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s 2017 Law Enforcement Official of the Year and the Florida Crime Prevention Association honored him with its Lifetime Achievement Award in October 2019.

 

LIEUTENANT JEREMY LINDAUER

Lieutenant Lindauer spent 32 years in law enforcement and his last assignment was in the Special Operations Division Central Investigations/Major Crimes. He was the commanding officer of the following units: Special Victims Unit, Sex Offender/Sex Crimes Unit, Forensic Investigations Unit (CSI), Missing Persons Unit, Arson Task Force, and the Federal Cyber Crimes Task Force. Additionally, he has advanced training in forged documents (including experience with the White Collar Crimes Unit). Lindauer also has experience as a Federal threat and risk assessment officer, spent 13 years as a field intelligence officer, and 6 years serving in the US military. He is currently an instructor with the US Department Homeland Security National WMD/Counter Terrorism, a State Counter Terrorism Instructor, a Counter Terrorism joint training instructor with the Israeli Mossad, and a US Army/Air Force joint CERF-P Enhanced Response Force Squad Leader.
