One of the first questions I’m often asked is, “Why did you start Christy’s Cause?”
While I was never trafficked, I endured eighteen years of physical abuse and thirteen years of sexual exploitation. The psychological impact of that trauma remains with me to this day. No one should ever have to experience what I survived—and it became my mission to help end child sex trafficking and exploitation through Christy’s Cause.
Over the years, I made several trips to Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand, working in the Red Light Districts. In the fall of 2014, I found myself in Cambodia. There, I heard heartbreaking stories of families so impoverished they were willing to sell their children into the sex trade. I saw entire communities devastated by the effects of the sex industry. I couldn’t look away. I knew I had to act—not only overseas but also within my own community. It was during that trip that the vision for Christy’s Cause was born. A year later, thanks to an incredible team and tireless work, that vision became a reality.
Today, Christy’s Cause exists to fight for the freedom of those who cannot fight for themselves. We are committed to eradicating child sex trafficking and exploitation through education, awareness, restoration projects, and justice initiatives. We also believe that meaningful change happens through collaboration—with like-minded NGOs, agencies, and organizations. No single group can solve this crisis alone. But together, we can amplify our impact, share resources, and develop creative solutions to end these horrific crimes.
Through partnership, shared advocacy, and collective action, we’re making a difference. We are bringing hope, freedom, and restoration to children who have been victimized—and giving them a chance at a new life.
I know these are difficult issues to confront. But as someone who has lived through the darkness, I can say with certainty: we are strong enough to face it, and our children are worth every effort.
